The city will also add 1,000 public charging stations by 2020. Mayor Denis Coderre made the announcement together with Aref Salem, the city’s transportation chief, and Elsie Lefebvre, who’s in charge of the vehicle electrification strategy. Fifty on-street charging stations will be implemented downtown as early as next month, making Montreal the first city in Canada to offer that many public charging stations.
