The Greenville-based gas station and convenience store chain will add chargers to seven of its locations, including five in the Upstate. There will be one "Level 3" electric charger at each participating location. Each charger can charge a typical electric vehicle in less than 30 minutes. Charging will cost a flat rate of $5.95 plus 20 cents per minute – $11.95 if a charge were to take 30 minutes. The chargers will be installed and ready to use by May 3, when the company will hold a ribbon-cutting celebration at its 901 Marue Dr. location in Greenville. The installation of Level 3 chargers gives electric vehicle drivers a more convenient option when their batteries are running low. There are Level 1 and Level 2 chargers across South Carolina, but they take much longer to bring a car to a full charge -- up to a few hours. A Tesla Supercharger station was also recently installed in Greenville, on Carolina Point Parkway. That charging station can charge up to seven cars and is designed to accommodate Tesla electric vehicles.There are also two high-speed chargers in the Richardson Street parking garage in downtown Greenville.
