'On an open-source platform'

As long as it's really boxy. The France-based startup automaker is more or less taking the Mini and Smart approaches of letting people deck out their vehicles in every color or design pattern imaginable. So at least the automotive industry has advanced on that front in the last 100 years. The crux of the model is an open-source platform with the model name Pixel XYT. There are three modules: city car, utility, or taxi and the electric powertrain can take the boxy vehicle as far as 130 miles on a single charge. The model's starting price will be about $11,000. There also may be hybrid models available, and one of the truly modern perks of the vehicle is that its buyers can chose from an inventory of connected apps that can be added to the car. Beyond that, things are a bit of a mystery about how France Craft is supposed to make and deliver its vehicles. There is a four-minute video (included here) showing the France Craft leisurely tooling around, but there's no voice-over with it. There's the obligatory Facebook page, and there's also France Craft's website, which can be found here but, fair warning, it's all in French. France Craft showed off its concept at the CES conference in Las Vegas earlier this month, according to Technologic Vehicles, so something's happening in the real world.
