If you have a Lithium pack keep charging beyond 100% SOC it will likely catch fire. Every erg past 100% goes to making heat. Even a trickle is bad. PbSO4 safely survive this. Li ion not at all. I am pretty sure I heard this from Jeff Dahn. I never heard RIckard say anything contrary, though I have quit watching his vids for some time. But Jack is pretty savvy and knows this. Mis-speaking, misreading and mis-listening are always possibilities. EV Werks had a business (among other things) bottom balancing packs and sealing them up. Those were not meant to be operated with no battery management at all. That BB operation is a pretty manual operation not normal battery management.. That is pure guess work. Even a smart drunk guy in yellow shows or his minions can forget to turn off something when it is needed. Most likely some sort of inattention was at work.
