might have noticed I do not use GM's adoption of Bolt for their GM 200mi EV. Instead I call it by its function: a 200 mile range EV. I do this perhaps in the ridiculous hope that GM will see the light that Bolt is a dumb name that will only hurt their sales by all the confusion with the Volt pih. Also there are other EV products for sale that already used the Bolt name (more confusion) http://electric-vehicle-discussion-list.413529.n4.nabble.com/EVLN-5-5-k-Bolt-M-1-Electric-moped-r-30mi-20mph-ts-sport-40mph-tp4677964.html http://www.boltmotion.com/ But I suppose when GM's Bolt EV is offered for sale in a few years, I will have to refer to it by the name it is being sold as. But in reading last night's post http://electric-vehicle-discussion-list.413529.n4.nabble.com/Re-EVLN-New-Spy-Pics-of-GM-200mi-EV-Interior-Sonic-Volt-blend-tp4677969.html One of the writers mentioned the interior was a blend of Sonic-ice and Volt pih. GM is using Sonic-ice under-pinings and likely stealing/using existing EV tech from their Volt/Ampera pih line. Perhaps their 200mi EV could be referred with a Sonic/Volt blended name? Sonolt? By the way, for those that do not know, I spend a huge amount of time sieving through all the newswires multiple times a day so I can catch any good stuff. I see a whole lot of 'Bolt' pieces that I do not post because like most GM newswires, they are full of fluff and puff, and not much useful info. IMO, it is like GM spends a lot of advertising money (which they can write off their taxes) on self-promotion/investment trolling, etc. Though GM in the past has talked/stated a mean-game of producing their 200mi EV in large quantities, you never know about GM. Going back on their word is not a rare occurrence for them (i.e.: the killing of the EV1 EV, etc.). I can understand GM using an existing product line (Sonic-ice) to be the underpinnings of this 200mi EV. It makes financial-sense to spend less on a product, especially if they plan to only sell/lease enough to get the carbon credits they need to sell ice (produce in smallish quantities). But we all know, taking a Sonic-ice and making a EV out of it is not going to be as efficient as if GM unleashed their R&D team to produce a purpose built EV (like the EV1 was). Doesn't it seem like if GM really was serious about producing EVs, it would revive its EV1 design and build/modify on that?
