However, when Smart announced on launching the ForTwo Electric Drive mid-next year, it got quite a number of people excited. This is probably due to the fact that the consumers finally see some value in Smart if it is to take on the mainstream EV market with the ForTwo. After all, the superb eMPG that might come with the vehicle can cover back the extra expenses to purchase the car. The word is that the ForTwo Electric Drive is going to run on a 17.6kWh lithium battery which sends the power to an electric motor which develops 74PS and 130Nm of torque. While not much, the ForTwo ED can sprint from 0-62mph in 11.5 seconds and there is a top speed of 78mph. The icing on the cake is with the travel range that is promised to be about 76 miles in the city ...
