I think getting the USPS to change borders on the impossible. They might call themselves a private company -- but they think like a byzantine bureaucracy, and fight against changes of any kind.

It's not just the US postal service, either. It is said that the only part of the Chinese imperial bureaucracy that even Mao and the communits were unable to change was the Chinese postal service.

But you're right; the *other shipping companies are more than willing to change. Anything that improves their bottom line will get their rapt attention!
