[image http://www.dealcurry.com/uploads/17321_large.jpg (Customers buying fruits&veg from Freshworld nEV) ] Retailworx India Pvt Ltd, the company delivering fruits and vegetables at doorstep under the ‘FreshWorld’ brand, has raised an undisclosed amount of funding from Infosys co-founder Kris Gopalakrishnan and the Indian Angel Network. Angel investor Nagaraja Prakasam led the deal for Indian Angel Network. FreshWorld seeks to organize the unorganized grocery retail market leveraging technology. FreshWorld ,founded by Rajiv Rao an XLRI alumni, goes out on the street with an electric car, much like a street vendor, armed with a tablet, printer and GPS tracker to offer fruits and vegetables sourced directly from the farmers. Currently, it has 24 custom-built electric carts that cover 12 localities in it’s founding city, Bengaluru, selling about 200Kgs of fruits and vegetables per cart per day. With the latest seed infusion, it plans to add 40 more carts in this calendar year to eventually reach 250 carts by FY17. Using technology, it also records the receipt, tracks inventory and analyses data to understand customer purchase behavior. Freshworld plans the mix of fruits and vegetables on its carts as per the buying behaviour of its target consumers. It notifies its registered users through SMS alerts as the carts approach their respective residential areas. This adds another venture to the likes of BigBasket, LocalBanya, GreenKart which provide an online platform for placing the grocery orders. Unlike them, FreshWorld operates on an offline model. Lately, Future Group came up with a cross between e-commerce and door-to-door sales, wherein it ties-up with local vendors personally visit consumers and take orders on tablets delivery to be done within seven days.
