'Apple doesn't need to make a car to make an Apple car'

Top 10 ways that life would be different if Apple sold cars. 10. Cars would be priced higher than they are worth and come from a single source just like they do now. But Apple would continuously advertise that buying one of their cars is an escape from that kind of old style paradigm. 9. Apple would be continually lobbying the government to subsidize the donation of cars to schools for driver education. 8. Cars would need excessive horsepower to operate more than one accessory at a time. 7. Many accessories would operate differently but owners would ignore this and boast to their friends that all of their accessories have an identical look and feel. 6. Help regarding the operation of their accessories would be only marginally better than those who drove UNIX cars but the owners would boast that this is of no concern because all of their accessories have an identical look and feel. 5. Owners manuals would be very small. Maintenance manuals, needed to add an accessory yourself, would come in seven large volumes. 4. Owners would make fun of how complex it is to add an accessory on other cars. Owners would not have a clue just how difficult it was for them to add an accessory to their own car themselves. Very few owners of Apple cars would add their own accessories. 3. Periodically a little picture of a bomb would appear on the dashboard and the car would come to a stop. Loyal owners would rarely, if ever, admit this and would convince themselves that this sort of thing happens to owners of other cars all the time. 2. People who could never drive before would begin driving, join auto clubs, tell everyone else how to drive, and generally become insufferable bores. And the number one way life would be different if Apple build cars... 1. Using the fruits of a larger company's focused research and development effort cars would be introduced that were 10 years ahead of their time. After release, they wouldn't change for over 10 years... https://www.facebook.com/DadJokes/posts/10151728390277693 Dad Jokes December 8, 2013 · If Apple made a car, would it have Windows? (thanks Grant) Christopher Legg If it had Windows it would crash too often. But by comparison the Apple car would only travel on approved roads to sponsored destinations. It would cost 3 times as much despite being the same as any other car (but shiny!) and the steering wheel would look like this. The Brotherhood of Mac would make everyone think it's THE best car, however as soon as it released a new one it would be considered useless shit. 6 · December 8, 2013 at 6:19pm Ken Macdonald No it would have the view that Apple says is best for you ... What functionalities would it have? Alexander Stassen, Sr Creative If Apple designed a car, aesthetics would be the last part of the loooong process. First they would analyze the reasons people use cars, and based on those needs, they would find a different, more simple and efficient way of meeting those needs. Then they would look at who they'd market, to further shape the concept to a specific userbase. Then they'd technically and financially design the elemental base of the product. Then, they'd start thinking about what sort of plating and material they'd use, sticking to the philosophy of Jon Ive, stripped of all unnecessary elements and applying Occam's razor to every design decision in the process. I agree that Audi comes close to this. Why the long story? well... I think if Apple were to get into the transportation business, they wouldn't just redesign a car. They would introduce a new, cleaner and more efficient way of personal and/or small group transportation. In its own way it would comply to legal restrictions of a vehicle, but it would not compare to today's common polluting, wasteful and inefficient cars we see everywhere. What that would look like? I'd be pitching it at their offices if I knew ;) Updated 9 Sep, 2011. They would not be thinking in the conventional terms of what a car is to you and me, but they would think very radically different (and radical, not just to be different, but because that is how they are). It is worth looking into a talk by Simon Sinek at TEDx Puget Sound: "How great leaders inspire action" http://www.ted.com/talks/lang/en... In this video he specifically cites how Apple 'thinks'. It is inherently very different from the way all other companies think (to which with Apple currently competes with). Apple would in my opinion would probably truly even question if the 100 year old idea of 4 wheels, engine in the front and 4 doors and box metal is the best way to transport. Time to breakaway from the norm I would assume. Apple would surely look at it from an engineering perspective (as would be required), but they would primarily look at the car from the "Why" perspective, why should Apple make a car? and If so, "How" will they make it? and lastly "What" it will have. They would be looking for questions that go beyond the periphery of engineering. As cited above, they would look at how they can better the experience for everyone, keeping in view the oil issue, pollution, traffic jams, etc. I think Apple would probably do a very unique job of coming out with a car - one that would be aesthetically pleasing, environmentally friendly, (yes, the antenna would work, there is nothing wrong with it), it would be a pleasure to drive and you would most likely have to get in line to get one. I believe Apple would pay special attention as to how we 'interact' with the car, the interface, the intuitiveness, etc. The car would probably have a very intelligent OS, one that understand the passengers and the environment around it. I think Audis have the fit and finish, solid body structure, high quality materials and seamless integration of great technology that Apple is known for. Sort of stealth luxury. Simple lines, clean interfaces, nice tactile experiences, some excellent power under the hood. And, like Apple, Audi is notorious for using proprietary parts that make it difficult to repair or replace items without spending more than you'd like. If Apple made a car, it would almost surely be serviced by the Genius Bar. And assuming it was an EV, you can bet that battery wouldn't be user-replaceable! Still, I would sure like to see this car. Apple would try to patent the four wheel configuration used by cars, then sue General Motors for breaching this patent. They would also sue all other car makers for having a round steering wheel with a push button in the middle. http://dottech.org/112909/if-google-apple-facebook-microsoft-yahoo-and-linux-made-self-driving-cars-comic/ If Google, Apple, Facebook, Microsoft, Yahoo, and Linux made self-driving cars… (Comic) By Ashraf - June 20, 2013 [image http://cdn6.dottech.org/wp-content/uploads/2013/06/tech_company_self_driving_cars.gif If tech companies made cars The Google car would determine the best route to see billboards targeted to you The Facebook car would tell everyone where you are headed (proctologist) Apple's iCar would be a hobby car, and only let you drive to one place The Linux car would have great service, but there would always be three geeks in the back trying to improve it Yahoo's car would constantly have clowns exiting it There is a reason why they won't let Microsoft ever make a car (crash) ] 1 comment jayesstee June 20, 2013 at 12:46 PM So true! Also: Twitter’s car would only go 140 feet. Samsung’s would have the biggest windscreen. HP’s would be immediately withdrawn (like their tablet). Blackberry’s would have different controls to everyone else’s.
