[image http://images.bidnessetc.com/img/tesla-motors-inc-model-s-spotted-among-bidens-motorcade-in-brussels.jpg ] Vice President of the United States Joe Biden was unaware of the fact that Elon Musk’s revolutionary electric vehicle Tesla Model S was part of his motorcade in Brussels on Friday. Joe Biden is well renowned for his love of cars; he is the son of an automobile dealer and has attended motor shows such as the recent Detroit Auto Show in January. The Tesla Motors Inc Model S in question was actually not officially part of the US delegation in Brussels, but was in fact a press car. The US government motorcades usually move the president and the vice president in a heavily armored Cadillac which is flown in from the US wherever it is needed. The Tesla was brought into the motorcade when one of the press cars of Biden’s delegation left and reporters were left without a car. The Secret Service did their usual sweeps for bombs and then it was cleared to join the motorcade. The company that provided the vehicles for the motorcade supplied the Tesla which was one of the few that had American manufactured vehicles. While the car’s speed could not be tested on the cobblestone laid roads of Brussels it did manage to keep up with the motorcade with ease. According to The WSJ, it is unlikely that Biden ever saw the car in his motorcade. However, this does raise some questions and potential opportunities for Tesla Motors to incorporate their all electric vehicles into the US governments budget for all American vehicles. It is a well known fact that the president prefers American manufactured cars in his motorcade and Tesla could well be on its way to becoming a part of that in the future. The world is moving towards electric vehicles and if the American electric car and component vendor can make their cars meet the requirements of the Secret Service then they could be guaranteed a presence in the garages of the government. Maybe even a Fort Knox style limo for the President. The California-based automaker is rapidly making its presence felt round the world, heavily investing in its Supercharger network. Tesla cars have also been spotted in the most unusual of places and word of mouth is getting the product across. Joe Biden would have obviously heard about this and we hope we hear good news where the US government subcontracts Elon Musk to manufacture cars for his office. Tesla stock is down 1.6% in early trading today.
