The trademark, filed on January 27, is owned by Polaris Industries and titled "Victory Charger", with the description reading "Electric motorcycles and structural parts therefor". Victory was created by Polaris back in 1997 as a competitor to Harley-Davidson, which is rumored to be putting its LiveWire electric motorcycle into production this year. Now that Polaris has Brammo's sweet IP to work with, an electric bike from one of Polaris' many brands is practically a given, but whether it will be a reengineered version of an existing bike or an all-new Victory is up the air – based on Victory's current lineup, we'd guess the latter. Polaris Industries has filed a trademark for the 'Victory Charger', according to a report on www.motorcycle-usa.com. The trademark, which was registered with the US Patent & Trademark Office on January 27, comes just weeks after Polaris acquired the Brammo electric motorcycle company outright, extending its previous minority ownership. The trademark covers “Electric motorcycles and structural parts thereof", but no other details of note are supplied. Polaris has said that it plans to start manufacturing electric motorcycles at its Spirit Lake, Iowa facility in the second half of 2015. On that basis, we'd have to assume the Victory Charger is in those production plans, and it should be ready to go straight to market rather than taking a "prototype" route like Harley-Davidson has taken with its Project Livewire. And from an economic viewpoint that makes sense, as Polaris will want to start to see a return on its Brammo investment sooner rather than later.
