Driverless Cars And Why Uber Will Be America’s Next Big Automaker: Morgan
Stanley By: Martin Blanc Feb 4, 2015

... my mind came up with a What-If idea the future might hold ...

While some people may resist self-driving, autonomous vehicles, at some
point there could seriously be a paradigm shift when an owner could let a
company take control of their EV when they are not using it.

Example: An autonomous/self-driving version of the spacious Kia Soul EV or
the more roomy Tesla-X was purchased for not only the owner's pleasure, but
to let a business (lets call them MakeGreen, or MG4U for short) use their EV
for Uber/Lyft Limo/taxi service.

The EV would already have a hidden camera system installed, so MG4U could
document any abuse of the vehicle which could be used in a court of law. And
MG4U could easily remotely shutdown the EV and lock the doors to help detain
the violator(s) until the police arrive on-scene. The owner could easily
view what is going on via an app, and could also alert MK4U of any
misbehavior they saw.

No cash would be needed/exchanged as all payment is pre-verified and
electronic before the ride (hack) begins.

By that time, either MG4U would have a human attendant at a L3 EVSE for
quick recharges and interior cleaning, or an equivalent L3 inductive EVSE
would have been implemented so that L3 recharging throughout the day was
transparent for the auton-EV.

Simple scenario: After talking to my EV via my phone before I slept, it
knows to pre-charge & pre-warm my EV for driving me to work in the morning.
Once I let go of my EV, MK4U takes over to start making money for me with
Uber/Lyte, etc. MK4U tells the EV to drive to the pre-scheduled hack it was
assigned just before my EV (it) dropped me off.

MK4U already knows when I will need my EV and my EV is easily re-callable
via a phone app (it would come back to pick me up, right after it finished
its Uber/Lyte hack).

This could also lend itself to after I have been dropped off at home. So, my
EV could be used during the night when I am not using it.
An Auton-EV purchase could start paying for itself right away. Their might
even be MK4U purchasing discounts at sales-time to help offset buying cost$
(the new owner would get on-board with MK4U at purchase).

This could also lend itself to hiring minors (those in-between years when
you are under 18 but old enough to be of assistance) to the elderly that may
need help getting in and out of the EV, or just does not feel comfortable
with all this new-fangled-cars to go-it-alone. The elderly get the
assistance they want/need, and the minor can earn some money with a minimum
of effort, and may even be able to do their school homework during rides.

All comments, views, ideas welcome :-)
