[My personal knowledge on this is from the past, so I hope others with more
current information will respond]

motor in my 2ton S-10 Blazer was that if the effective voltage at the motor
was kept no higher than 144V, arcing/fireballing would be minimal. Because
of some pack voltage drop on EV components, a 156VDC pack could be used if
after a full charge the performance demands were kept at a minimum (easy on
the accelerator) until some of the 156VDC pack's surface voltage had been
burnt off (pack voltage would drop off after a few miles).

It is my understanding that because of that voltage limitation, the
performance EV crowd (i.e.: the fine folk at nedra.com ) have made a market
for other motors that can handle higher pack voltages. I suggest you explore
