I hear "nothing" last for ever? If this is true, why can't you buy it,
who makes it, how much does it cost? Will the government try and tax it,
control it? Regulate it? And I also hear "nothing" is sacred! If this
is the case, where do we pay homage to it? So when some one says "I
have nothing", do we envy him, think of way to rob him? AHHHH I want
nothing! and lots of it!

This reminds me of the famous poem by Oliver Wendell Holmes "The Wonderful One-Hoss Shay" about a buggy that lasts "forever".

I ran into someone who was selling a product called "Absolutely Nothing". It was an empty box with the name, and all sorts of claims and testimonials. "Dentists report 'Absolutely Nothing cures tooth decal" etc.

There's a Gahan Wilson cartoon that shows a weird pagan rally, where everyone has a big "N" on their clothes. The evangelist is shouting at the excited crowd, "Is NOTHING sacred?!?!"

And this bit of doggerel verse by me...

          Nobody
        by Lee Hart

Nobody likes the shape he is in
Everyone thinks they're too fat or too thin

Nobody will write a letter today,
and send it in the mail.
People instead will text, or tweet
or electronically email.

Nobody knows the old movies and songs
Before they were violent or mean
Nobody remembers the comics, and jokes
That were funny without being obscene.

If you call to chat, or just say hi,
Nobody answers the phone.
If you're in the mood, and just drop by,
Nobody will be at home.

So many people, self centered and greedy,
Are not like the friends that I knew.
So I'd rather be like Nobody.
Wouldn't you? I would, too! :-)
