IMO There are many, many hurdles for a company to be successful, way
beyond just the product itself. And there are many, many hurdles put in
place by their competition to block that company's success. In this
case, Automakers, Auto-dealerships, ... and the list goes on and on.
*Not being able to sell directly to the public puts the consumer back
into the pre 1990's non-Internet-stone-age. Let's not put up with that,
and move forward by stripping/casting off ancient and archaic
methods/regulations/unnecessarily-burdensome-institutions.

I personally will not purchase a new car, just because of the salesman
hassle, and immediate drop in value as soon as it's driven off the lot.
I purchase only from individuals, which also affords me the
opportunity to ask questions about the previous life of the car.
Giving the manufacturer the ability to sell direct would possibly make
me look into purchasing new again.
