Tesla is already gearing up to build a new Roadster that will supposedly
push even more technological boundaries.

Most of the news surrounding electric carmaker Tesla has been focused on the
new Model S sedan. After winning Motor Trend’s coveted "Car of the Year"
award, the Model S has proven that it’s possible for an electric car to
function as a proper daily driver. Range anxiety can still be an issue for
some but the car’s technological leap forward can’t be denied. But details
are beginning to come out regarding another Tesla: an eventual replacement
for the discontinued Roadster that put the company on the map in the first
place.

Tesla Working on New Roadster

According to a new report coming from Autocar, Tesla is currently at work on
a new Roadster that will "push the envelope beyond what anybody else is
doing." The comments come from Tesla boss George Blankenship who further
added that "We did an electric car with over a 200-mile range and a 0-60 mph
in under four seconds. Back then, no one believed it was possible. And then
we made the Model S, with 0-60 mph in 4.4 seconds and a 300-mile range." No
specific date was given as to when the next Roadster will be ready, but the
Model X SUV is expected sometime next year and it will be followed by a
mid-size sedan in either 2015 or 2016.
