Life is life Spend your time doing benefit things every day. -----Original Message----- From: [email protected] [mailto:[email protected]] On Behalf Of pln471 Sent: Sunday, August 02, 2009 5:49 AM To: ESL Podcast Subject: [ESL Podcast] Re: Respect towards old people in society Hi Elham Diana and all, Nice to hear from you again,Diana! Where are you originally from?China,Taiwan or anywhere else?;) I wish you could come more often as Simone,Elham,Claire and me!;) They are always lack of woman's touch here, aren't they?LOL I haven't got much time to elaborate now,but I believe a civilised society is measure by the way it treats the weak, the poor, the new born and the old. The old may appear slow in actions, but quick in providing the young alternatives to better their lives, jobs or perspectives. If on one of these bad days, you had benefitted from a short but meaningful talk with one who may be a stranger in the park who spent time listening to you compassionately and patiently without any prejudice or judgmental remarks, you will know exactly what I mean. We respect the old for their wisdom, their contribution to the society, their efforts to provide us a better future, their courage to set good examples for the young. As Diana said which is very true,we will all be old one day. There's a Chinese Proverb which goes like,'Don't do to others what you don't want others do to you.' How do you want to be treated or looked at when you become old? It should be respect or politeness instead of negligence or despise... That's all for now. Great Sunday to you and all your loved ones wherever you are!
