I have seen this behavior with a number of input boxes for a few months on "standard" Linux Firefox (the Ubuntu packages). It is annoying but isn't common and I hadn't taken much notice until you asked. If/when it happens again I will note where and report it / add it to an existing bug. -- Andrew C.
