CCK2 will always need to be updated for ESR updates (and most Firefox releases).
Firefox changes under the cover and your files need to be updated. I've released a new CCK2 that has Firefox 68 compatibility https://github.com/mkaply/cck2wizard/releases/tag/2.4 Firefox 68 will be the last ESR that supports CCK2, so I strongly recommend moving to policies (and letting me know if you need things that aren't there).
