Hello Well, setup.exe is also Windows only. You still have different install commands for Windows, MacOS and Linux. I cannot see any reason why msi package and CCK2 couldn't work together. It is just about authoring the msi and providing a clever way to define the customizations and settings. CCK way or another. And then we are again at the point where separating code and settings and providing a way to customize settings is the key to make the software enterprise ready.
