Menesh, Can you share the URL to the article you are using to set up your configuration (Mozilla Wiki or otherwise)? Can you share the actual files you are editing and the relative paths to them?
You DO need data:text/plain on the homepage pref due to the data type in the underlying preference in Firefox... Be extra careful with special characters (including quotes that have been copy/pasted) in this file - treat it like a Javscript doc... (// to comment a line, etc.).
