HP has addressed this in the newer versions of the iLO 3 and 4 firmware where
you can use Java Web Start instead of a Java applet. Though if you're stuck
with old servers with iLO 1 or 2, you're pretty much out of luck after the next
major ESR release.

We switched to the ESR version because, now that Firefox blocks java
applets, it is now the *only* remaining way to use our HP iLO KVMs.

We need to know whether the ESR version intentionally supports java
applets and will continue to do so indefinitely, or its current support
for them is just an accidental side-effect of the fact that the ESR
version is, in effect, old enough to still support java applets.
