Hello,

I dind't subscribe to the list, but I hope this still works…

I'm using enigmail on an old Ubuntu distribution, 16.04.6 LTS.
I noticed enigmail being buggy, for instance and most importantly I am
unable to generate ECC keys or use ECDH crypto (gpg2 just crashes), also
the GUI bugs when importing keys, showing me empty confirmation promts etc.

Can someone tell me how to upgrade gnupg2 *safely* to the latest version
please? It doesn't seem to be in the sources, in other words trying
apt-get to upgrade tells me it's the latest version.

I know how to install deprecated packages from older sources, e.g. by
adding jessie to /etc/apt/sources.list, but I'm a bit scared to do
something similar with "newer" sources in fear of breaking system-wide
dependencies… (this PC runs a bunch of old software that's why it still
runs with Ubuntu 16.)

Any help would be much appreciated.

Cheers, Jonas
