#engagement.

Thanks, and enjoy your weekend!

Attended

        • Zana
        • Siska
        • Adelia
        • Nuritzi
        • Cassandra
        • Sri

Thank you's for the FSFE postcards

Action items:

        • @Zana took a photo of the postcards and will send to @Allan so he can
tweet a thank you

Annual Report

        • Hard submission date: March 31st
        • @Adelia has sent out reminder email to writers counting down to
deadline
        • @Adelia & @Zana have design ideas and will talk to @Jeff about these
today
        • @Cassandra to browse through photos and select the best ones
        • @Cassandra to message travel committee and suggest a reminder for
licensing: travel-commit...@gnome.org

Fundraising

Charitable trust donation acknowledgment

        • Craigslist charitable fund previously said they didn't need public
acknowledgment, but now welcome acknowledgment
        • @Zana explained the difference between news item and press release;
press release is a formal mode of dissemination through newswire and would
require some fee whereas news item is our own e.g. the press release posted on
GNOME website

Action Items:

        • Need to create a news item to thank Craigslist charitable fund for
continued support
        • @Zana to poke @Andrea and figure out where to add that donor on the
website

Friends of GNOME Redesign

        • Will wait until after the release for Zana and Allan to talk more
about this

Outreach

        • Bastian and 2 potential newcomers (working on GNOME calendar and
GNOME builder)
        • Local group: had 2nd meeting last week with about 7 or 8 people

Action Items:

        • @Bastian will type up some feedback on how to start a local group (&
challenges he's encountered)

Handouts for release parties:

        • How to stay connected with GNOME, how to get reinvigorated with
GNOME, social media links
        • The FB group as a friendly-face, point-of-contact to direct people to
projects/people
        • Various social media channels vs email, which is the best least
intimidating way for newcomers to approach us
        • @Siska: GNOME Asia has Google Hangout group - we suggest to
disseminate information on GNOME groups at release parties for example so more
people can join

Action Items:

        • @Zana to send text to Cassandra for how to stay connected/get
reinvigorated with GNOME
        • @Cassandra to create the handout document for SF party - put
information on GNOME SF Bay Area Facebook group
        • @Nuritzi to close the GNOME SF fb page and send invites to those in
that page, to the GNOME SF Bay Area fb group. We don't have enough content to
maintain both.

Release 3.20

Feedback on release coordination

        • Release video is really really good
        • Due to timezone differences, some people in Asia missed the release
moment
        • We want the community to spread the word about the release and any
release parties.
        • Have people take photos, could be useful for our photo archives
        • Release badge - @Zana had some glitch trying to post it on twitter,
it was posted to G+ people mostly shared the post of the badge from GNOME fb
page
        • Badge is created, we should use it, at least the Engagement team and
the Release team @Sri wants to write a post on the badge, although in hindsight
it is already a little late. Note to ourselves, we have to include this item as
part of the release planning so it won't be missed out and we can maximize the
usage of the badge
Release Parties - @Siska to add release party to wiki

LAS GNOME

        • Website is shaping up. We just need to beef up the content, refine
the aesthetics, and make links/layouts more consistent
        • Conference is on first 2.5 days. The remainder will be for BoFs
        • Registration site will be discussed in details in the LAS GNOME call
        • @Sri is considering hiring someone to help with promoting (and would
help to find sponsors)
        • @Sri to get pricing of promoter

Conferences

New Free Software Conference: http://foss-north.se/

        • Will be held in Gothenberg on May 26th; Coordinate for a speaker
before April 12th
        • Aim is to cover anything open source in the talks
        • Would really like GNOME speakers to increase target audience
        • Since it's broad, could have a talk about GNOME updates and Linux
        • Talk on XDG app or Wayland?
        • Call for papers until April 12th:
http://foss-north.se/call-for-papers.html
Action Items:

        • @Bastian will send email to foundation list for people to submit
papers; @Zana to poke @Bastian
        • Need to make a calendar with conferences with GNOME presence
