Hi,I have just published a new version for my EAP-UTE draft I briefly presented at IETF 113 in Vienna.
https://datatracker.ietf.org/doc/draft-rieckers-emu-eap-ute/
EAP-UTE is an EAP method like EAP-NOOB, which relies on an Out-Of-Band message to establish a mutual trust between peer and server. Instead of JSON, EAP-UTE relies on CBOR for message encoding and aims to be extensible to allow for future use cases.
For the -00 version, I haven't received any direct feedback, whether this is something the emu-WG would be interested in.
Since my presentation I have changed the message format a bit and have a not yet complete but somehow functional proof-of-concept implementation with a custom server and an ESP32 with ESP-IDF as client.
I hope to get some feedback for this before IETF 115.My main question is if the basic idea of re-defining EAP-NOOB with a different message flow and message encoding makes sense and would be a possible item for this working group or is this wasted effort?
The draft itself still has a lot of TODOs, but if someone is willing to read it and give feedback on the overall protocol design, I'd be grateful for that.
