I did look at the new 26.3 version of FreeCAD. 26.3 is a “release candidate”
and is not yet deemed “production ready” until it goes two weeks with no
serious bugs reported. For basic stuff, it seems very solid, even on macOS.

Never having seen 26.1 before, I had a basic wall mount bracket (to hold a
small mmWave radar sensor to a wall designed in like 15 minutes. My
background is with Fusion360, and that is close enough that the basic concepts
transfer.

There are a few new CAM features. But not yet true 4-axis milling where
every axis moves at the same time. But for 2.5D it looks good. I have not
yet tried a full milling simulation t verify. My use case for this is
robotics. 3D printing is doing much of the work, but for highly stressed
parts, you need metal.
