Subject: [Emc-users] How to update 7i71 firmware

Hello again!

I am receiving a message on LinuxCNC startup that 7i71 board has old firmware.
So I have a question (most probably, for PCW) - how exactly should I do it?

I found a zip file with firmware and update scripts here:
http://www.mesanet.com/software/parallel/sserial.zip

I found a readme file in there, but I am not sure I understand
correctly the instructions.
My setup is 5i25 board with 7i77 attached to its P3 connector. And
7i71 is attached to 7i77.
In HalShow 7i71 shows up as hm2_5i25.0.7i71.0.2. That means it is on channel 2.

From readme file it seems that in terminal I should run this command:
./updatess 7i71 5i25 2 7I71R14.BIN
Is that correct? Or should I omit the firmware file name?

No firmware name

I also am not sure that I understand, where the firmware file has to
be placed. In the same folder, where updatess script?

You run the ssinstall script to install the firmware

Or do I have to run ssinstall script before that (with "sudo
./ssinstall") to get the firmware files in correct places?

Viesturs
