OK. Indeed the Pi4 2.8.0 does have "spindle.0" in place of "motion." while my PC based Linux system is still 2.7.14 and uses "motion." and haven't seen a reason to upgrade that system. No amount of googling turned up that root link for documentation, likely because I didn't ask the correct question. I've bookmarked that in my LinuxCNC bookmarks. Thanks. My only goal at the moment is to clone my existing 2.7.14 (and clearly the Pi4 2.8.0) HAL and INI files into the BBB along with yet another custom adaptor board since the Xylotex Cape has the ENABLE/ signal on DB25-1 as a negative logic signal while all the servo drives require a positive logic. It's not like I'm enamoured with MachineKit. Just have 3 Beagles sitting here doing nothing. They won't even play fetch. 8-( My thinking is expanding that Xylotex cape to have a CAN bus driver. My Electronic Lead Screw project can have CAN bus on the X Step/Dir pins and can have the keypad extended with another couple of columns. Changing to a 4x20 display could turn my ELS into an ELS-MILL with commands to the BBB for motion and simple BEGIN/END x,y,z positions along with spindle ON/OFF Speed control. Yet, with the flip of a switch and plugging in a monitor and turning on the wireless logitech keyboard and mouse results in the ELS-MILL becoming the Pendant to MachineKit with full CNC. And yes, I could probably do the same thing with the Pi4 + MESA 7i92H + CAN Hat which I have using LinuxCNC 2.8.0 (or .1) but those Beagles are just lying there...
