It was a technique used a fair bit in the early days of RobotWars. RC servo turning pot on golf-cart controller. It is crude, but does have very good noise resistance. In a noisy environment the all-digital robots would fail to move at all as the commanded speed wobbled from full-forward to full reverse. Whereas with the mechanically linked pot, the servo would generally jitter in the right direction, and give some movement. In a game where not being obviously immobile is all it takes to win, that's good. -- atp "A motorcycle is a bicycle with a pandemonium attachment and is designed for the especial use of mechanical geniuses, daredevils and lunatics." — George Fitch, Atlanta Constitution Newspaper, 1912 _______________________________________________ Emc-users mailing list [email protected] https://lists.sourceforge.net/lists/listinfo/emc-users
