If you are not using LinuxCNC then perhaps you could use an Arduino to do the same thing, either from encoder data or from the existing hall signals. Most probably the magnet ring poles need to be a mirror of the internal rotor poles. So you could make a new ring by glueing magnets to a disc or 3-d printed part.
