Those 6 are holding a pair of 1/4"x3/4" about 6" long steel strips on the front face of the apron, with 1/8" wide and deep rabbit cuts on the inside faces to hold a sheet of 1/8" alu for the x motor mounts belt tightening adjustment of the sliding motor mount plate they trap. I might paint the steel before I reassemble things if I can find a box of thin washers for the 4mm hex head bolts that go in those 6 holes.
