Is this a Mitutoyo one? I have one of these that was purchased in 1993 and it works quite well except when there's a lot of humidity and you have to clean the travel surface because it starts to jump numbers giving ridiculous readings. This also happens when the battery is low. I also tried a cheap chinesse one but it's was a disaster.
