That would work well, but I doubt that is how the key-operated ones
work, like this one

I know how the _operate_. I don't understand how they _work_
It seems that the clamped-together assembly of scroll, jaws and work
ought to be free to rattle around as a unit inside the main body by an
amount equal to the running clearance of the scroll in the body. This
page actually has a picture of the scroll and jaws clamping without a
