Ah, but then we must quibble about the difference coefficient, which you'd have to measure per filament, then have to worry about diameter changes messing it up. If you must measure it anyway, then automate the process and let the machinery (well, HAL) handle it. You're almost certainly right that full-time high-low feedback isn't needed, but I'd like to see it in action. Which is in the plan!
