I've been using Draftsight on the Mac for a little over a year, and had no
problems with registration.
Of course I now receive the regular emails telling me about the wonders of
training courses and add-ons, to entice me to upgrade to SolidWorks (where the
real money is to be made). Pity I use Inventor instead...
I use AutoCAD on the PC, and Illustrator for things which are just too
difficult to draw in Draftsight or AutoCAD.
I also tried the early TurboCAD on the Mac, which was given as a free trail
version (time-limited). That had a major problem with text following a curve
(the numerals on a clock face, for example). TurboCAD acknowledged that, but
didn't offer a fix, so I don't use that software any more. I have the full
TurboCAD for the PC, but I don't use that either, because if they can't fix a
known bug on the Mac version, why would they bother supporting the PC version
either. Strange way to promote their software to users. It's a pity, because
the interface was nice and simple.
Of course I continue to get the emails offering upgrades to the latest version
of TurboCAD at what seem like weekly intervals, so that's clearly where they
make their money.
I would be interested to know if there are any really good free 3D packages for
Mac, PC or Linux. Something as capable as Inventor or SolidWorks.

Regards,

Marcus

What a source of power! I hope we don't have to wait until oil and coal
