I will do a lot of repetitive motion testing this afternoon, with an LVDT and 6.5 digit multimeter to measure the position. I'm going to implement some slightly more sophisticated logic first, along with a multiplexer instead of the tri-state buffers.
I'll report back tomorrow :-). I don't want to have a long sensor element because one use of my design will be in a continuous loop track application with multiple carriages. -- Ralph ________________________________________ From: Viesturs Lācis [[email protected]] Sent: Thursday, July 12, 2012 12:45 PM To: Enhanced Machine Controller (EMC) Subject: Re: [Emc-users] ideas for "bumpless" transfer between encoders 2012/7/12 Chris Radek <[email protected]>: > On Thu, Jul 12, 2012 at 02:25:48PM -0400, Kenneth Lerman wrote: >> >> I understand that you are "...not very worried about a couple of counts >> every 75mm." Yes, before announcing victory over the issue You definitely should check, if any error cancels out as You travel backwards over the places, where different encoder readers are sticked together. -- Viesturs If you can't fix it, you don't own it. http://www.ifixit.com/Manifesto ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Live Security Virtual Conference Exclusive live event will cover all the ways today's security and threat landscape has changed and how IT managers can respond.
