There is more information on the stepgen component that uses these
parameters in the stepgen manual.
If you type
man stepgen
in a terminal window, the stepgen manual page will be displayed
Basically these are timimg parameters that should be set to exceed the minimum
specs of your step drives interface timing. If you do not know your drives
specifications you can use very conservative values that will work with most
drives, for example:
10 usec steplen
10 usec stepspace
200 usec dirsetup
200 usec dirhold
will work on almost any drive, but may limit performance on high speed
drives/step+dir servos
