What is that You need to do at 50kHz? Generate step/dir signals or something specific for laser? > > I have heard about these MESA cards, but I don't know at all what they > do and I also don't know if they have to be programmed for > something??? > Mesa and Pico Systems hardware take the task of the generating steps, so basically PC just needs to tell, how fast those steps should be, which considerably improves machine's realtime performance, because with hardware step generation almost always there is no need for base-thread and machine can run only servo-thread, which is much longer and thus less affected by jitter. > > What should I buy to do this hardware step generation and do you have > suggestions on models/cost ? > Take a look at their homepages: http://pico-systems.com/motion.html http://mesanet.com/ I have experience only with Mesa cards. You probably need 7i43 or 5i25 card (under "Anything I/O daughtercards"), depending on availability of LPT port in Your PC (and LPT's capability to work in EPP mode). I guess You should ask Jon Elson about Pico's cards (I guess that Universal Stepper Controller is the one for You) for what would fit Your needs. Pico is more expensive, but they have more useful features, like built-in optoisolators on inputs etc. Viesturs ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Virtualization & Cloud Management Using Capacity Planning Cloud computing makes use of virtualization - but cloud computing also focuses on allowing computing to be delivered as a service. http://www.accelacomm.com/jaw/sfnl/114/51521223/ _______________________________________________ Emc-users mailing list [email protected] https://lists.sourceforge.net/lists/listinfo/emc-users
