Does anyone know the taper angle that Browning uses for their taperlock hubs?
I get the impression from my memories of it that it is a faster taper than std morse by quite a bit. I did get a bit of machining done last night, including drilling the hole with a 1/4" 4 flute ballnose. Unforch, its maybe 5 thou too big, so I will need to saw slit it several times crossways in order to get a good crush onto the motor shaft. I assume the BN mill wasn't sharpened absolutely symmetrical. Turning maybe 50 rpm, it did want to chatter a bit. But with enough saw slots to let it crush easier, I believe I can make it work. If I try to slot it with one of the dremel 1.5" diamond wheels (a hacksaw blade is waayyy to wide IMO), what rpms should I use for best life of one of these $21 wheels? I am under the impression that turning at dremel speeds where its throwing fire also causes the diamonds to ablate quicker. I am not equipt to either flood cool, or catch it, but it would sure seem to be a good idea. Setting my rotary on edge, in a large, at least 4" deep plastic bowl, and filling it with K1 so the slot is buried might be doable. rpms limited by throwing K1 over the side. ;) Any better ideas out there?
