It's still fairly simple, I think. From my notes from last time I was in
there:
GRUB2: Edit /etc/default/grub , then run update-grub, which updates
/boot/grub/grub.cfg

Yes, if you're as forgetful as me, it's tempting to whack together a
simple wrapper script around update-grub, to auto post-edit the boot
command. If a post on e.g. ubuntu-users doesn't elicit a kosher way to
make grub take boot parameters, then I'll cheerfully whack together a
Q&D fix. But the script won't be there on a new install, only on a
kernel update or boot sequence tweak. Is that good enough?
