Yeah, I cried when they discoed the 4-1000, 20 some years back. But I managed to find enough (the last 4 I bought as mill surplus from an AF warehouse in Weisbaden(sp?), about 15 years ago), and babied them with very conservative filament voltages, and the old NTSC box, which was by the time we turned it off, was still making about 85% of its licensed power, and that loss was purely cuz I just couldn't get the sync tip power out of that pair of jugs anymore. It also used a pair as final drivers in the aural, but they've been the finals for 15 years & were down to about 700 watts from the pair of them on shutdown day. And they were getting full heater voltage by then. The visual final was an Eimac water cooled triode rated at 85kw sync tip 6 mhz wide on channel 6, but I'd had their 12 volt heaters turned down to 10.5-11 volts for years, so the final is still in excellent shape even if it does have 50k hours on it. We only needed 27kw for sync tip power, so it did that as long as there was any heater power applied. > > >--------------------------------------------------------------------------- >--- Download Intel® Parallel Studio Eval >Try the new software tools for yourself.
