Sebastian, >> A couple of comments on that config:
It looks like it was based off an older, somewhat buggy hm2-servo config. Specifically, the [AXIS_*]OUTPUT_SCALE is not used by the hm2-servo.hal file. << What I posted is the copy I have, it is about three months old, which is why some of the settings are somewhat "soft". The PID PID values, ferror, etc. have been tweaked since I got this copy. >> The [AXIS_X]MAX_VELOCITY is used in the hal file as pid.X.maxoutput, which i think is wrong. Oops, i just noticed that the standard hm2-servo config does the same, i'll check in a fix for that. << I saw that you checked something in. I will go take a look. >> The [AXIS_*]INPUT_SCALE values look strange. Is that really what the encoders are producing? << The motors are all the same 600 Watt DC servo (5' x 10' table). Each has a different gear ration, Z is approx 20000 CPI, Y is 12000 and X is 6000 (not exact, too lazy to look up). >> The [AXIS_*]FERROR and MIN_FERROR look very large to me. Is it really acceptable for the machine to be a quarter inch off while feeding? << Old values, see above. >> In hm2-servo.hal, the hostmot2 driver is loaded with all debugging flags turned on, that's probably not needed. Oops, i just noticed that the standard hm2-servo config does the same, i'll check in a fix for that too. ;-) << I am not sure whether those are on in the running configuration, I will check. >> Wow, this machine has a GlueGun? :-) << Two actually. Well it worked a lot better on paper than in practice. :) It never got to the point of working reliably and has been basically abandoned. >> Yes, i think trying it without the joystick would be a good experiment to do. << I already told them to try that, I am waiting to hear back.
