Servo drives that take analog input typically don't have a mode where the command value represents position. There are several modes for a servo drive, including torque, current, velocity, and voltage. If you have a velocity-mode drive, then the output from EMC2 must be a velocity. The PID coefficients would be tuned such that a change in its commanded position input gets translated into a velocity command output for the drive. Similarly, you would use different PID coefficients if you had a torque mode drive.
