Hi Steve,

Yes, the "Installing" wiki is rich, complete, up-to-date.

My first attempt to compile and install the emc2-trunk version was on
my office file server, which still uses an earlier version of Ubuntu ( ver 6.06
/ kernel 2.6.15 ).

I ran into an error while executing:

export CVS_RSH=ssh
cvs -z5 -d:ext:a...@...:/cvs co -demc2-trunk emc2

This resulted in a "headers" error which was caused by the inability of the
installer to find certain kernel information in the expected directories. This
fault I believe, was due to the fact that the cvs installer expects a recent
version of Ubuntu & and its attendant directory structure.

I don't recall if this wiki page warns or specifies that a recent version of
Ubuntu is presumed.

My installation of 2.3 on the actual milling machine went without a hitch.
Emc2/Axis are performing flawlessly at this time. Chris R. implied that the tool
length offsets will be treated differently in 2.3, but I have not explored that
just yet...

Tom
