Some time ago I worked at Macro Marketing - a component distributor who is part of Avnet now I think. They had 120 terminals run by a PDP11/70 which ran the entire sales floor and shipping process. It was at the limit of what it could handle, but did work. It was replaced while I was there by a 'little' Amdalh system - 4 linked processors - I don't think they ever got some of the old facilities restored on the new system ;) The funny thing was, while the sales floor had the PDP11, I was running a VAX for designing semi-custom product. That only had one user on it :) -- Lester Caine - G8HFL ----------------------------- Contact - http://lsces.co.uk/lsces/wiki/?page=contact L.S.Caine Electronic Services - http://lsces.co.uk EnquirySolve - http://enquirysolve.com/ Model Engineers Digital Workshop - http://medw.co.uk// Firebird - http://www.firebirdsql.org/index.php ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ _______________________________________________ Emc-users mailing list [email protected] https://lists.sourceforge.net/lists/listinfo/emc-users
