It's Friday so may I try?

The mass to be chucked out the back is integral to the fuel in a rocket but 
is the medium through which the engine is travelling, accelerated directly 
or indirectly by combustion, in a jet. I say indirectly to cover the air 
moved by the fan in a turbofan like the RB211.
