Yes. The latency test can be run on any PC with no external hardware at all. EMC itself can be run without external hardware under some conditions: 1) If you are running a stepper motor based config, you don't need any external hardware. Steppers are open loop - that means EMC sends step pulses out the printer port and assumes the motors do as they are told. No motor? EMC doesn't care. 2) If you are running one of the sample configurations in the "sim" or "vismach" directories, you don't even need a printer port. In fact, if you have an understanding PC seller, you can take the EMC2 live CD and test a computer before you buy it, without installing Linux or EMC on it, or making any changes to the machine or it's installed operating system.
