Yep, I did more or less the same. Some pins are grounded, one pin has  
a resistor voltage divider and I touched one open pin and saw the  
voltage change.

What is a DMM? My only option left, I haven't tried it yet, is to hoop  
up an oscilloscope.  I suspect that there is no data going to the  
arduino.

Unfortunately my arduino doesn't have RX/TX lights.
