Hi John,

Yes, I did work through them but missed the direct relevance. I think I was 
initially a little confused because what I saw on my screen didn't correspond 
to what was shown in the tutorial (I don't know whether it makes any difference 
but I'm testing this out on the latest EMC2 on Ubuntu 8.04). Also I hadn't get 
my head round the fact that what I am setting up is a spindle and not an axis - 
probably because I was trying to do it with a 5-year old trying to continually 
get my attention and a 7 month-old shouting because he's always bored...... the 
pleasures of school holidays eh? If only my daughter didn't have to work and 
leave them with us....

On the third run through I think light is beginning to dawn... sorry
