With the git version of gnus (or the one included in emacs' bzr trunk),
you only need this.
(add-to-list 'gnus-secondary-select-methods
'(nnimap "Gmail"
(nnimap-address "imap.gmail.com")))
Put your credentials in your ~/.authinfo (on preferrable in your GnuPG
encrypted ~/.authinfo.gpg), and everything should work smoothly.
